ROBERT MONTANO, Board Member
Robert Montano is responsible for Adept’s Development Office which oversees all aspects of project development from acquisition and entitlements through exit. Mr. Montano is also responsible for Adept’s Japanese Equity Office sourcing equity from Japan-based publicly traded companies, private corporations, family offices, and high net-worth individuals. Mr. Montano has placed over $80m of investor equity since 2019 resulting over $800m in completed and or entitled projects.
Prior to joining Adept Development, Robert spent over two decades in the public sector with the City of Pasadena and County of Los Angeles in redevelopment and economic development. While with the City of Pasadena, he was responsible for a wide variety of public/private partnerships and projects of community-wide significance. He oversaw economic development efforts contributing to the Old Pasadena, Playhouse and South Lake Avenue Districts, and facilitated mixed-use and commercial developments throughout the city. He was a founding board member with the Playhouse Property-based Business Improvement District (PBID), the South Lake Avenue PBID, and a member of the Old Pasadena PBID. Mr. Montano also represented the city to a number of organizations such as California Association for Local Economic Development, International Downtown Association, California Downtown Association, and Railvolution, amongst others.
Prior to Pasadena, Robert was a project manager with the Los Angeles County Community Development Commission. While a project manager, Mr. Montano helped secure grants to fund and construct the Business Technology Center – a 30,000 high technology business incubator focused on commercializing government and military patents from NASA’s JPL and Caltech for commercial purposes.
Robert attended Cal Poly Pomona where he earned his Bachelors of Science in Urban and Regional Planning from the College of Environmental Design.
